The Album
Featured today is my high school senior "Memory" album. The example above features "Honey" leatherette, one of seven available color choices. The album is quite sturdy, designed for repetitive viewing. Though not what most clients focus on, the construction is one of the reasons I offer this line of albums. It is solid, well-built, designed to last. One of the albums was purchased by a local private school where it gets constant use. Though they've had it for two years, it shows no sign of wear.
The Memory album features "lay flat" pages which offers several benefits when creating the album for a client. Because the album is designed to open all the way, so that the front and back covers lie flat on a table, I can place a single image that can span across both pages, making a very customized and visually striking presentation.
The Pages
In general, detail about pages in an album probably doesn't seem all that exciting but in this case, well, you'll want to change your Friday night plans! The pages are made from fine grain professional papers, which simply means each page is a photo paper, not just the image. Due to the high-quality nature of the photo papers, they are designed to withstand day-to-day viewing while maintaining their brilliance without fading. Now, just because these pages are photo papers does not mean they are thin and flimsy. They're sturdy. Each page has a backing, to increase its strength but designed in a way to complement the well-constructed feel of the album.
Album Options
There are several options available with the Memory album. Of course, the color of the leatherette, the background color that surrounds each image, and the color of the opening and closing pages. The opening page is what you see when you open the cover. It's either a white linen page or for an additional fee, a black linen page.
Before delivery, your new album will be placed inside a velvety protective fabric cover, then placed inside a very nice and... (you guessed it) sturdy presentation box. One more option of note-- a protective coating can be added to each page. I recommend this option if the album will be stored (or frequently viewed) in or near a damp environment.
Pages vs. Spreads
Sometimes you will see the term "pages" when referring to albums and sometimes you will see the word "spreads". The Memory album uses spreads. Two pages make one spread, but the book is only available with an even number of spreads. The album is not limited to 10 spreads though. For an additional fee, more can be added if desired.
In this photo I wanted to show you the album along with the presentation box. The album features imprinting of the senior's name near the middle of the album with the class year at the bottom right. The text color is silver (other colors are available). The album is 8 x 8" in size.
For reference, this client album had 10 spreads with 14 images in it. I do not recommend more than 14 images in the 8 x 8 sized album. The range of images for this size is 10 - 14.
In this image I thought I'd give you a little peek of the inside of the album. This senior chose the Honey leatherette cover color with the complimentary dark purple background color to surround his images.
Before any album is ordered, I send each client a link to their album preview. There is one free revision (if needed) at that time. Additional revisions incur an additional fee.
Last Thoughts
The Memory album is one of my top selling albums. It is well-built with vivid images in an album that is designed to withstand day-to-day viewing. It is a beautiful album, one I am sure you will enjoy looking through.
