Dean was one of my late fall seniors. I met him and his mom at the Preston-Snoqualmie trail in the Fall City area. Even though plenty of late fall rain several days beforehand, it thankfully stopped for Dean's senior session. The late fall colors plus misty, low hanging clouds surrounded by damp scenery really made for some nice photos that he and his mom were very excited to receive.
Dean came well prepared with multiple outfits, a great attitude, and such a knowledge of the area that he knew several specific spots where he wanted to be photographed. I noticed immediately Dean's trombone. My middle son also plays trombone in band. Dean preferred playing in the high school jazz band. He was quite talented as a musician so he asked to have a few shots with the instrument. How could I resist? I may be photographing my own son for his senior photos so having Dean with a trombone provided a great opportunity for me too!
Dean was really fun to work with. He was mostly quiet but had a subtle, quirky sense of humor that presented itself through that slight smile whenever he thought something was funny. Or in my case, that something I was doing was so goofy that he couldn't help but laugh. Putting myself out there for the sake of a smile can be kind of fun.
From casual to formal, Dean looked great. Some of my personal favorites are of him in black and white.
